1. Program Introduction
Summer Work and Travel Program is a global cultural exchange program sponsored by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. Applicants enter U.S. companies on a J-1 visa for a short-term internship of 8-16 weeks. After completing the internship, applicants can travel within the United States, experience American life, and learn about American customs and traditions. The program offers college students from all over the world the opportunity to experience American life and culture, improve their English skills, and work side-by-side with American colleagues and interns from other countries in an American company. Medical insurance for the duration of the internship is included in the program application fee.
2. Application Requirements
Be full-time undergraduate or graduate students over 18 years old.
Own basic English communication skills.
Have the ability to work and live independently.
Work actively and diligently, be conscientious and responsible, and abide by the contract.
Be healthy, without infectious diseases.
No U.S. visa refusal record.
3. Types of Internships
The workplace is usually in theme parks or amusement parks, resorts, hotels, supermarkets, restaurants and so on.
The work covers waiter, cooking, room attendant, sales, lifeguards, tour guides, customer service and so on.
4. Duration of the Internship
Approximately 15 weeks with an average internship length of 30 ~ 40 hours per week.
